Representatives of the Russian-language mass media outlets from Armenia, Belarus, Romania and Estonia were awarded the Honorary Diplomas of the Government of the Russian Federation at the 15th World Congress of the Russian Press on 20 June.
Among the awardees are the newspapers SB Belarus Today, Zorile (Romania), and Delovoy Express business weekly (Armenia).
The World Congress of the Russian Press is an annual meeting of the heads of the Russian-speaking mass media outlets to discuss the current development of the world Russian-speaking information space, preservation of the Russian language, the fourth most spoken language in the world. This year the forum is hosted by Belarus.
The congress kicked off with a plenary session at the National Library of Belarus on 20 June. Partaking in the opening ceremony was Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. Greetings to the participants and guests of the forum were sent by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chairperson of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, other political and public figures.
The organizers of the 15th World Congress of the Russian Press are the World Association of the Russian Press, BelTA News Agency in cooperation with the ITAR-TASS News Agency, Information Ministry, Foreign Ministry and other government agencies of Belarus.
